Week 14 Mega-Breakdown

by Justin Hume (JibJab)

This week went extremely well for the most part. Usually the first week of a new contest has very low numbers (mostly because everyone has to pick a WR... and we haven't weeded out the people who aren't very good). This week however the overall success rate was 71.5%, one of the highest of the year. Last week was just 58%.

Survival Rates
QB - 63% (last week: 95%)

RB - 92% (last week: 12%)
WR - 39% (last week: 71%)
TE - 83% (last week: 81%)
Off - 59% (last week: 71%)
Def - 97% (last week: 22%)

Defense was remarkably easy after being the second most difficult last week. WRs have been not quite impossible the last 2 weeks which is a nice change of pace.

You almost had to try to fail at defense this week to not get it right.

Let's look at the biggest let-downs from the week.

Popular QB failures
1. Aaron Rodgers - 11.0%
2. Kurt Warner - 7.3%
3. Ben Roethlisberger - 5.8%

Popular RB failures
1. Rashard Mendenhall - 3.7%

3. Steven Jackson - 1.1%

Mendenhall was actually the most popular survivor at RB last week.

Popular WR failures
1. Larry Fitzgerald - 22.2%
2. Reggie Wayne - 6.5%
3. Marques Colston - 5.9%

You can't really blame Fitz; it's tough to meet the threshold when you don't play the whole game.

Popular TE failures
1. Jason Witten - 13.3%
2. Kellen Winslow - 1.5%
3. Jeremy Shockey - 0.7%

Popular Off failures
1. New England Patriots - 21.1%
2. Arizona Cardinals - 5.9%
3. Dallas Cowboys - 5.5%

That's now 3 straight weeks of the Pats being the biggest let-down. Ouch.

Popular Def failures
1. New Orleans Saints - 1.0%
2. Oakland Raiders - 0.7%
3. Philadelphia Eagles - 0.5%

The Raiders being the 2nd most popular failure is pretty funny.

That's it for this week. Let me know if there are other stats you'd like to see me breakdown for you next Tuesday. Good luck in Week 15, only 3 weeks to go!
